Project overview

CS-15 Safety Solutions Ltd was appointed to provide comprehensive medical cover and specialist water safety support for a major film production involving cast and crew working in demanding filming conditions.

The production required continuous on-site medical support, rapid emergency response and specialist water safety oversight to protect the welfare of everyone throughout filming.

The challenge

  • Long filming hours and physically demanding schedules
  • Child performer welfare and safeguarding requirements
  • Water-based filming sequences requiring specialist supervision
  • Immediate access to qualified medical assessment and emergency care

Critical medical intervention

During filming, a child member of the cast became visibly unwell on set. Our attending unit medic carried out an immediate assessment and identified signs consistent with a serious hyperglycaemic episode.

Recognising the severity of the symptoms, the medic arranged urgent referral to hospital. Following assessment, the child was diagnosed with diabetes. Clinicians later advised that early identification and rapid intervention were critical, and that the outcome could otherwise have been significantly more serious.

Water safety operations

Alongside medical provision, we delivered dedicated water safety support throughout all aquatic filming scenes, with continuous monitoring of cast, crew and filming environments. All water-based operations were completed safely and without incident.

Results

  • Immediate identification of a serious medical condition
  • Rapid escalation and hospital referral by on-site medical staff
  • The child performer's health and wellbeing safeguarded
  • Zero water safety incidents during filming
  • Continuous medical and operational support throughout production

Outcome

The incident showed the value of experienced on-set medical teams, and of proactive assessment and rapid clinical decision-making in high-pressure production environments.
